Our Services:

Case Management

EMAN offers Case Management services to ALL persons living with HIV / AIDS.

Case Management helps identify the social, medical, psychological, legal and other needs of persons living with HIV / AIDS. Support is provided by assistance with medical needs, housing, and social services to improve the quality of life of our clients.

EMAN provides support groups, and extensive resource library, and educational services, as well as a food pantry.

HIV Antibody Testing

Here at EMAN, we use the OraQuick Advance Rapid HIV-1 & HIV-2 Antibody test. This accurate and quick method of testing individuals for HIV antibodies uses no needles, does not require a blood sample, and does not require a lengthy waiting period to find out your results. Your antibody test results are available in approximately 20 minutes! OraQuick Advance Rapid uses saliva swabbed from your mouth to test for antibodies. The test is over 99% accurate. We can certify your results for overseas travel, if needed.

We offer this test to public at a fee of $25.00, but we have reduced fees and free testing for those who are in need. Appointments are preferred, but walk-in testing can also be done. There are testing counselors available during our regular office hours, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm and Thursday, 9:00am to 7:00pm. We offer free referrals, condoms, safe sex counseling and pamphlets, as well.

Clean Needle Exchange

EMAN's free needle exchange program is provided to help stop the spread of HIV and Hep C by exchanging dirty needles for clean ones. EMAN will provide you with one needle for each dirty needle that you bring into the exchange. Maine State Law just changed to allow us to distribute more than 10 needles at a time - but we must have a one-to-one exchange (bring in 20 needles and we can give you 20 clean needles).

This program is completely confidential and is free of charge. We are also able to provide you with free clean works, condoms, referrals, and HIV testing. Needles may be exchanged at any time during EMAN's business hours, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm and Thursday, 9:00am to 7:00pm.

You must be at least 18 years of age to participate in this program.

We are located at 370 Harlow Street in the Intown Plaza, downtown Bangor.
